Torcetrapib (CP-529414) inhibits cholesterylester transfer protein (CETP) with an IC50 with 13 nM. Torcetrapib is a CETP inhibitor, and CETP normally transfers cholesterol from HDL cholesterol to very low densit or low density lipoproteins (VLDL or LDL). Inhibition of CETP with Torcetrapib in humans increases plasma HDL cholesterol levels but is associated with increased blood pressure. [1][2]
